Add strength to your business!

New at Delphian…

I’m thrilled to announce that I have very recently partnered with Cassandra Stein of Small Business Success Network. In addition to writing for Cassandra, I’ll be co-hosting or hosting some segments of her online radio show.

Recent Activities

Those who know me also know that I’ve undergone a distinct shift of focus in my VA practice over the past year or so. I finally got around to admitting, to myself and others, that what I like to do most, the thing that gives me the most satisfaction, is write. In that regard…

Over a quarter of a century of experience has been lovingly poured into The Ink Tank by Jacqueline Spicer. Among her areas of expertise, Jackie knows a great deal about branding, marketing, writing, and strategy. She’s done work for clients in industries as diverse as food + beverage, agriculture and agri-based products, and entertainment/media. Some of the companies she’s helped along the way include Coca Cola Bottling, GrowCanada, and Warner Bros/Electra Atlantic. I recently joined forces in a small way with The Ink Tank, and am currently helping them with their social media activities.

I just finished another contract with EMC/Paradigm Publishing. Though I can’t say (yet) that I wrote one of their textbooks, or even a part of one, this contract did require me to put on my writing hat. I wrote chapters for various Office 2010 software titles. I’ve already worked with Office 2010 for over a year, and that helped prepare me for the task at hand.

I’ve been helping out my friend and colleague Pat Williams of CyberCletch LLC with various tasks, some of them writing, for the better part of this year. A great person to work with, Pat offers an array of great services. One of the great things about working with Pat is that she will take time, in detail if necessary, to help you help understand her business and clients better.

What is Virtual Assistance?

Virtual Assistants (VA's) partner with their clients to provide administrative, organizational, calendaring, marketing, research, or other more specialized services. All of this is done virtually; through phone calls, over the Internet, via e-mail, and using collaborative software.

In November 2006, I completed a comprehensive Virtual Training Program (VTP) at AssistU. During my five months of training, I learned much more about the value of relationships in the business arena. Sure, I bring tons of administrative, communications, teaching and training, and software skills to my practice :)  But it is the relationships between myself and my clients that I value most and build upon.

Are you sweating the small stuff because there's no one else to? Do you wish you could spend more time expanding your audience's awareness of your work, at personal appearances, or at building your business? Why not turn your wishes into realities? Virtual Assistants help you free up time to do the important stuff.

What's Unique about Delphian?

I am someone who loves to write. I’m a communicator in many senses of that word, but the way that manifests the most is through my writing. I’ve helped clients in terms of copywriting, ghost writing, blogging, guest blogging, procedure and process writing, and social media writing. I’ve also written some fairly technical things on various facets of technology. Fellow educators can appreciate this next part: I’ve created the vast majority of my own course material, including lesson plans, handouts, and presentations. I’ve even revised or completely recreated college level courses (most recently, one on virtual fashion retailing).

I also offer you the education connection, a passion for the entertainment industry, and over 2 decades of experience in the corporate world. What's the "education connection"? For much of my working life, I've had one foot in the corporate world, and the other in the education system. I've delivered software training to companies and individuals since 1987. For the past eight years, I've taught subjects in higher education. I started at Seneca College in 1990 (orginally as a member of their part-time faculty). For the past several years I have taught full-time students in Seneca's School of Fashion, School of Legal and Public Administration, and School of English and Liberal Studies. I taught at Humber College between 2003 and 2009. I understand group and classroom dynamics. This means that I understand people's needs! My classrooms have always been hugely multicultural, so I also understand how to address very diverse audiences.

My desire to work with clients in the entertainment field continues to this day. I have great interest in the industry, and yes, have even had a few brief stints as an Extra in movies!

Here's something that might come as news: VAs are not employees. I am a business owner, interested in partnering with you for your success. Your success will be my success! I am independent, so there are none of the associated expenses and investments that go along with employees. If you don't need a full-time employee, but do need a personal, virtual assistant (a PVA), going the VA route is a wise choice.
